Interrogation Room: The Former East Germany

Having photographed in prisons around the world, I've been in many rooms where people were tortured in an attempt to extract information.

Seeing the inside of a Stasi (the secret police in the former East Germany) interrogation room was unsettling because their whole methodology for breaking people was psychological. And thus there were no visible signs of the extreme torture prisoners endured. Sitting at the end of this table must have been a terrifying place when your interrogator is also the person who arbitrarily decides the length of your sentence.
